As our client continues to expand their operations, they are seeking a skilled Plant Accountant to join their team in Schaumburg, IL. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days per week in-office.

As a Plant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the finance team, supporting both traditional monthly close activities and complex analytical and reporting functions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including purchasing, operations, marketing and project engineers to ensure accurate cost analysis and financial reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key strategic decisions and support the company's growth trajectory.

Plant Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present financial results to the VP, Corporate Controller and other senior leadership across various departments
• Capture data from production reporting and accounting records to track and record cost of inventory and cost of goods sold. Analyze margins
• Perform costing, inventory and fixed assets analysis as part of the monthly close process
• Conduct detailed cost valuation of products for inventory purposes
• Review bill of materials (BOM) and estimate costs of new products, providing insights to support decision-making
• Analyze marketing promotions and deals to ensure accuracy of gross margin calculations
• Calculate transfer prices and distribute to other divisions, ensuring alignment with company objectives
• Develop cost bridges highlighting variance drivers and root causes, providing actionable insights to management
• Collaborate with the finance team to support the upcoming systems conversion to Microsoft Dynamics (D365), providing valuable input and expertise
• Generate ad-hoc financial reports and analyses to support business needs and strategic initiatives
• Continuously seek process improvements and efficiencies within the cost accounting function

Plant Accountant Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing or product-based company required
• Knowledge of inventory cost accounting principles including experience with standard costing and variance reporting
• Excellent communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Passion for the industry with a desire to learn
